Counting mammalian colonies in petri dishes is the most tedious of laboratory tasks. Mammalian cell colonies are very unruly. They clump into large masses and vary in size and density.

If your lab generates hundreds of dishes to be counted,then you know how much time is involved and how hard it is to maintain consistency among human counters. MACE provides high speed, accurate, and consistent counts. Just place up to eight dishes at one time into the holding fixture on the scanner and start the MACE program. In a very short period of time, MACE will analyze the dishes and generate a table of colony size and density for each dish. MACE counts and measures colonies, even when up to half the dish is covered. MACE was developed in cooperation with Yale School of Medicine and is in operation there.
